Hey Tumblrinos!
It’s been a while but, we’ve been incredibly busy getting Kicks Cookies and Ice Cream updated and ready to kick some Ice Cream Cone! You Yelped and we listened. We’ve revamped the website and we used your feedback to make it the best it can be!
The new site: www.cookiesandicecream.com has catering forms to save you time, a list of our retail locations so you don’t have to drive to Willow Glen, prices for all of our catering options so that you know up front what your base price is going to be, there’s a full list of where to find us online so that you can contact us at anytime, there’s a complete list of flavors and there’s a place for you to see what others have said about us.
I’m excited to launch it and I hope you’ll take a look and let me know what you think. The new image reflects what we want Kicks to represent- bright greens and natural scenery. Please let me know if you don’t see this site or have any additional feedback!
See ya there!
That is a good question! I’ve been wondering this myself and when I Googled it there wasn’t a clear answer, so I thought I’d help you out. KICKS offers all three and as such, we should explain what they are, so you know what you’re ordering :p
Gelato:
An Italian frozen desert similar to ice cream but, it’s not made with cream. Often, it’s referred to as ice milk instead of ice cream. Its ingredients include milk and sugar, often combined with flavorings and fruit, chocolate, liquor, spices, or nuts. Once the ingredients are all combined, they are cooled and the end product contains little air, resulting in a denser, more flavorful desert. Northern Italy is famous for this dairy version.

Sorbetto:
Southern Italy and Sicily take credit for this version of Gelato. It’s made with water and no milk or soy milk. In America it’s referred to as Sorbet. It’s made from sweetened water flavored with iced fruit and may also contain alcohol which lowers the freezing temperature for a smoother texture. Sorbetto or Sorbet is served as a non-fat or low-fat alternative to ice cream.

Ice Cream:
Ice Cream Fun Fact: It orginated in Baghdad, Arabs were the first to use milk as a main ingredient and sweeten it with sugar instead of fruit juices. It’s made from milk or cream and combined with fruits and other flavors, sugars or other chemical sweeteners, and is slowly stirred or churned while freezing to ensure the smooth creamy texture. American governments require that ice creams contain a minimum of 10% of milk fat(about 7 grams (g) of fat per 1/2 cup [120 mL] serving) and 20% total milk solids by weight (from Wikipedia).
KICKS believes in giving you the best treat but, without all the guilt. Who needs to worry about trans fats and chemicals sneaking into your food? Or feel slightly guilty as you unwrap your goodie and toss the wrapper in the trash, with your inner environmentalist asking you if you’re contributing to global warming? Who wants to support other farmers in far off places and have to think about what your food needs in order to make it to your mouth? Not us and I’m willing to bet, not you either!
With KICKS, you can rest assured that we make our cookies fresh daily from locally grown ingredients without any chemicals or trans fats. We package our treats only when needed in environmentally friendly paper products, and bowls made from biocompostable sugar cane fiber and spoons made from biocompostable potato starch.
Our drool-worthy homemade cookies are made with farm fresh eggs from “free rambling” vegetarian chickens, the finest quality local butter and hormone free dairy. Then, we add organic flour, top of the line vanilla and other all natural products. We bake from chocolates from Guittard and Schokinag. Our dried fruits are farm direct and packed for us.
Now, how does that sound?
